The California National Party has scheduled its next San Francisco convention for August 13 at the recently renovated Betty Ong Rec Center in Chinatown. This promises to be the largest gathering yet for California Independence Activists, with projected attendance of well over 100 party members and others interested in a free California.

The focus of the convention is twofold: 1) to allow candidates for party offices to speak before members as the election process begins, and 2) to start the revision process for the party’s official platform.

The CFC will have petitions to sign! More details here.

A key speaker at the convention to remark on this critical issue will be Cindy Sheehan, the 2012 Peace and Freedom Party vice presidential candidate who also had an unsuccessful bid for Congress in 2008. Sheehan lost her son in the Iraq War (2003–2011) and made national news when she protested outside President George W. Bush’s Texas ranch in 2005.

Sheehan is a board member for the California Freedom Coalition, a nonprofit think tank and lobbying group for California independence.

Another CFC member who is the organization’s director of research and policy, Dave Marin, will also speak at the convention. “We are thrilled to have Dave Marin, the author of the new California Independence Initiative, attend our convention,” remarked California National Party Chairperson Theo Slater, adding that Marin “will speak on the initiative and then participate with a panel of other prominent California Independence leaders in a discussion and Q&A.”

March for Science LA. Please contact Shankar Singham and Juan Favella.

The new initiative has been filed on May 19th. Cindy Sheehan (the famous activists who directly challenged George W Bush), the Peace & Freedom Party and the California National Party were in solidarity with us.

Press coverage was very positive. We look forward to an affirmative response from the State towards the end of July 2017.
